Helm Wines was established by Ken and Judith Helm in 1973 and is one of the leading wineries in the Canberra District. It is known for producing award-winning Rieslings and Cabernet Sauvignons. Located just outside of Murrumbateman, approximately 30 km north of Canberra, the winery is still family owned and operated and was given a 5 star rating by James Halliday. The winemakers are Ken and daughter Stephanie, descendants of German vinedressers who established vineyards near Albury in the 1860s.
Helm Wines are located in a beautiful rural Valley lined with 25 hectares of vines, six kilometres from Murrumbateman on the Barton Highway, in the Yass Valley Shire. Their tasting room is the 1888 Toual Public school house which is listed by the National Trust.
